Hello, I am Wendy Gillespie

I am a Kiwi Artist who is inspired by my beautiful country and different parts of the world I visit. I love capturing the feeling, mood and atmosphere. My favourite artists are Di Vinci, Constable, Goldie and many others who paint in realism and romanticism styles.

I paint in oils because I love their rich buttery colours and the way I can mix and manipulate tones, values and colour. I enjoy, drawing in pencil and charcoal and have illustrated my first children’s book.

“I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”

Nelson Mandela

To try anything new takes courage.

You might fail, it doesn’t matter, it is the trying that is important.

Join me in a painting workshop, or take up creative pursuits, it will free your mind from stress. Workshops and the Gallery is in a beautiful bush location, and there is an ability to have painting retreats by enquiry.

I am available to take commissions including a picture of your favourite holiday spot.

“I have a Wendy Gillespie ocean scene, that I have had for some years now.

Wendy managed to capture the raw elements of one of my favorite locations – Mangawhai Heads.

I know that Wendy painted the scene from photo and memory after visiting the location, so maybe the ruggedness and wildness that I feel the painting portrays, came from within the artist.

It is one of my favorite paintings.”
